If you want something challenging, take CPE exam. You have to go to Singapore to do that. At one time, the British Council in Bangkok was a CPE exam center, but too many Thai people failed this exam, so they no longer hold this exam in Thailand.
I passed this exam years ago, and I was so pleased to see a notice on the back of the certificate saying that the University of Cambridge believes that the person who has passed the CPE exam is capable of teaching English in a country where English is not the first language. However, when I applied for a job as an English teacher in Thailand, all the language schools owned by Thai people turned me down on the grounds of lack of Master's Degree in Education or in English Language...lol. ^ Mind you, I did get a job as an English teacher in a language school in Bangkok once because I was interviewed by an Englishman, who was the school Academic Director. My interviewer praised me for having passed the CPE exam. He gave me some verbal and written tests, and took me on as soon as he saw the results of the tests.
