A young adult being rich doesn't mean that he doesn't understand the value of money na krub. I was fortunate with the opportunities to go study abroad from a very young age, but I was never "spoiled."
My dad gave me a credit card when I was young (5th grade when I went abroad for a summer course,) and said "This card is for emergency usage, or something that is necessary." I abused it once and bought a pair of jeans (Armani, around 100 USD when a USD was around 25 baht) and he was far from pleased. He asked me to bring out all the jeans I had, and asked me to count it. Then he said "The money isn't the issue, but you should have better judgment on what is necessary and what's not. Needless to say, I was never spoiled again.
Sure, I still had mostly relatively pricey items, but I was never วัตถุนิยม. For the things I buy (ie shirts, jeans) I don't buy ones that just has names like "ABERCROMBIE 57" or "BANANA REPUBLIC" etc across the chest anymore. I still buy those brands, but I buy them because they are of higher quality clothing, and I actually don't buy them if the focus is to show off the brand. Most of my cloths don't say the brand, unless it's a small logo at the end of the shirt.
Don't generalize people who are fortunate krub. When I get older (I'm 24-25,) I will also pass along the fortune to my kids as well, but I would teach them how to value money, just like how my parents did to me.
