    Benzoyl peroxide* is considered the most effective over-the-counter choice for a topical disinfectant to fight blemishes. The amount of research demonstrating the effectiveness of benzoyl peroxide is exhaustive and conclusive. Among benzoyl peroxide's attributes is its ability to penetrate into the hair follicle to reach the problem-causing bacteria and kill it—with a low risk of irritation. Furthermore, it doesn't pose the problem of bacterial resistance that some prescription topical antibacterials (antibiotics) do.

    What it is :
    Benzoyl peroxide is available in prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, in cream, gel, and wash form. It is an anti-bacterial agent.

    What it does :
    Benzoyl peroxide slowly releases oxygen that kills P. Acnes, the bacteria that causes acne. Also, there is a mild drying and peeling effect which is thought to help prevent breakouts.

    A 2.5% benzoyl peroxide cream:
    Several studies show that a 2.5% benzoyl peroxide solution actually works better than the overdrying 10% solutions. So why are most of the benzoyl peroxide medications on the market in 10% strength? Because this is the legal limit for over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide and marketers know that people will always buy "maximum strength" if they can. However, in the case of benzoyl peroxide, maximum strength gels and creams are not as effective as their lower strength counterparts. As it turns out, 2.5% benzoyl peroxide is just as effective in killing acne bacteria as the higher concentrations. With 2.5% you get all the beneficial effects of benzoyl peroxide without the excess irritation that can make acne worse.
    It may take your face a couple of weeks to get used to benzoyl peroxide. For this reason, it is extremely important to slowly ramp up the dosage over the first few weeks on the regimen.

    A word of caution: about 3% of people are allergic to benzoyl peroxide and experience severe swelling and/or crusting. You may want to test a spot on your skin first. Also, benzoyl peroxide can bleach fabrics. Be careful about getting it on clothing that you love.

    1. bp เป็น anti-bacterial agent คือมันจะฆ่าแบคทีเรีย (ที่อยู่ในพวกสิวอักเสบ) แต่ก็สามารถช่วยเรื่องพวกสิวอุดตันได้บ้างเหมือนกัน ,, อันนี้บอกเพราะเราเห็นบางคนเที่ยวไปบอกคนอื่นว่า bp เอาไว้ละลายสิวอุดตันอย่างเดียวอ่ะค่ะ
    2. bp 2.5% ดีกว่าแบบ 10% ด้วยซ้ำ เพราะให้ผลเหมือนกันเลย แต่ไม่ระคายเคืองต่อผิวเท่าแบบ 10% ดังนั้นไม่จำเป็นต้องไปใช้หรอกแบบ 10% น่ะ เราเห็นบางคนใช้แบบแรงๆ แล้วสงสารอ่ะ เพราะมันไม่จำเป็น
    3. ถ้าผิวคุ้นกับ bp แล้วก็สามารถทาทิ้งไว้เลยก็ได้ ไม่ใช่ว่าทาแล้วต้องล้างออก ,, เห็นบางคนมีความเข้าใจผิดๆ ว่าห้ามทา bp ทิ้งไว้
    4. อย่าให้ bp โดนเสื้อผ้า เพราะมันจะกัดสีผ้า
