Also we can't overlook the i8510's audio quality and especially our RMAA tests that can reveal a lot of interesting things to those who are looking in the right places. In short, this phone packs in Samusng's latest developments in the way of sound quality and therefore is second to none these days. It compares quite favorably to the ROKR E8 and beats Nokia's solutions hands down, let alone Sony Ericsson's Walkman handsets. All in all, the i8510 does the same thing as the Nokia N95 a while ago; and even though it won't be able to repeat the latter's success, it has already raised the bar to a completely new level. Now all other manufacturers will be trying to reach it, while some won't be able to come up with a worthy rival to the INNOV8 even a year from now.

The music player doesnt rank among the key features of this smartphone, but the quality of audio is simply amazing. Nokia N91 is the only previously available handset that could compete with INNOV8 in sound quality. Samsung i8510 can be judged on par with the cult music phone as offering probably the best audio quality, and even beating the formidable Motorola ROKR E8 on this front, as it was revealed in our tests. The sounding of i8510 is richer, deeper and more natural. Motorola ROKR E8 has a very impressive bass range, though lower frequencies bring about more distortion; as a result, the basses sound blurred and become intermixed with the higher frequencies, making a very bad touch on the stereo effect.
Sasmsung i8510 scores a clear win in this challenge, - if not an absolute one, but at least among the majority of modern music profile handsets (except Nokia N91). The basses clearly feel different from the mid- and high-range sounds, so you get your stereo as crystal clear as they come. The 3D sound effect is so impressive that you may actually mistake an instrument from the track for a real sound source located somewhere behind your back.
It must be kept in mind that all the tests were performed using a quality headset, and you arent likely to notice the difference if you choose to stick with the bundled headset or some third party low-end appliance. Not being a phone focused on music per se, Samsung i8510 has a few downsides in this sphere of functionality: the headset jack resides on a side edge, which is simply inconvenient, there are no dedicated player control buttons, a full battery charge provides only a 15-hour continuous playback cycle, which isnt the best score around for today. Having it compared to Nokia multimedia flagships (N96, N85) we only get a relatively better audio quality for an advantage, the Nokia handsets leading in the rest of the music aspects like player controls, ergonomics and battery life in the playback mode
