(My brother forced me to buy the Galaxy S from him. He didn't like it. Since I was the one recommending it to him, he held me responsible and I sort of had to buy it off of him.)
วัสดุ --> I think it seems/feels a bit fragile. The assembling itself seems all right. However, it's the first phone I feel like I have to pamper it & be extra cautious with it. I mean it's so thin (which is kind of nice & crap at the same time) & plasticky. (For example, the X10 & 5800 are both plastic fantastic too. But they're just feel more solid to me.)
No flash photography. (Although most phones suck at low light photography, having flash is better than having no flash at all.)
AIS --> My dad was furious with AIS. My brother is quite mad at AIS. He reserved the phone but got it after some people who didn't reserve it at all. And he's still waiting for the photo frame! And he said he still hasn't received the whole internet package as promised. No compensations whatsoever, only apologies which I think is insincere & BS. (For example, I had issues with Best Buy and AT&T; they both apologized & tried to rectify the problems. In Best Buy case, they issued a gift card. In AT&T case, my plan was free for a month.) AIS could have been sued for false advertising in some other developed countries for this.
@lightfellow I think the Galaxy S supports WCDMA1900 too. So at least you should be able to use it partially on AT&T & Rogers 3G networks, when you're in North America.
Edit: just to clarify something. While I think the 5800 feels more solid in my hand than the S, I think the S' body and assembly look more refined than the 5800's -- and they should be considering the S is more than twice the price of the 5800.
