Comment From BBC
Anyone who thinks that the elections to be held on 2 April will be fair and democratic needs help. The corruption of the Thaksin regime is so perverse that getting rid of him is a priority and changing the laws to nail people like him in future is a very close second. Calling the crowds of protesters a mob is wrong, they are very well behaved and are using their democratic right of protest to oust a corrupt PM.

Democracy means 'rule of the people', i.e. not rule of money or rule of the majority..
Unless you do not consider the protestors as 'the people', I cannot see why they are not justified!!

The protesters are right. There is a conflict of interest between the prime ministers business dealings and his office. Can you imagine if Tony Blair had made $1.9 Billion from the sale of shares for his family whilst he was still serving as PM?

I have only been to Thailand as a visitor and have wondered why Bangkok is not keen to effect change through the electoral process, as offered by Thaksin on 2 April. From what the Thais are saying on this forum, it seems a clear case that Mr Thaksin is corrupt and must go. Without a cooperative and credible opposition, that's unlikely to happen through democratic means, which makes me fearful for the future of this beautiful country. I would urge the opposition to participate in this election.

I just hope that this time it remains peacefull. If trouble starts then sure not by anti Taksin protesters but by his supporters. Don't forget the 3000 or so "drugdealers" that got killed immediately after Taksin came to and exercised (absolute) power. To call 100.000 protesters a mob is a bit biased I'd think.
