Regarding on the much discussed topic on Taksin's interview on Times UK, I insist that we all must continue the discussions in english only. Hence, there shouldn't be anymore discussions on this topic in thai. This is to prevent explotations/political abuses that someone might manipulate the thai interpretation of the english script.

i don't understand about times' reporter problem.

thaksin've just said that the reporter reported somethings wrong

but i think that the important news such this must be approved by
times boss or the otherone who've got the same level before post it
or publish it for the people.

hence if they've approved it , it's mean that they believe it's true.

To tell the true, I don't have enough time to read all of twelve pages of that broad sheets' interview script because I must spend about one hour to read and analyse it all. So what I can do is just scan for the blamed as anti-monarchy sentences which I found nothing wrong with his speech .However there're some problems when the reporter interpreted it , it's not a bit deal for me because I know that he wrote it with his own understanding and nature which are different from us.
It's not my responsibility to find the prove against the blame of Taksin's unroyalty but it is the blamer's task to answer and show the evidence why they insult him like this.

Or can some "special people" insult someone else without the evidence as they want as if the normal law can't be apply to them?

5 Five pages are leading topic of the monarchy, the rest of the interview (12 pages) is nothing about the Royal family. There is nothing that is lese his majesty. I don't know why they are (Yellow) trying to make Thaksin disloyal, it's same issue that is so bored topic.

I don't read all the interview but skip reading. I like his interview (he spoke the truth in my thought), but the scare head of the Time UK is distorted from the real interview. Open your heart to the interview, get real.

There is nothing wrong whether I agree with Taksin or you disagree with him. The reporter has the responsibility to publish the real thing but ,for his additional idea, it may be not exactly correct because of his different background and attitude built up from different society so it's understandable.

But the Thai people who know the background of common Thai but try to interpret the original speech into the bad one without the exceptable reason in order to comdemn another Thai are the guilty ones for me. If they have no prove ,so their words will turn to be an illegal insult.

have read full script and this only confirms my observation with Thaksin.. HE REALLY IS A GREAT MAN

The article demonstrates his principles & values. The most important principles he has are SERVICE & LOYALTY.

The interviewer has made several attempt to redirect the answer according to his opinion e.g. involving the king in most of his questions and tackle specifically strong on Thailand's outlook with potential heir-apparent. K.Thaksin has smoothly played down with protective responses to the r family. That demons his characters & value.

To the ultra-royalists, the responses to the interviewer would problably are too REAL & too DIRECT when it involves questions on "the day everybody must face".

Democrat knew these ultra-royalist very well and use such issues to agitate witchhunt against their enemy.

From what i read. Thaksin is one HARDCORE police-cadet student. His response shows valuable characterized self-deprecated, humility, service, and loyalty. No wonder he is loved by many.

IMHO, you mustn't ignore the chance that, Time UK could have its own motive to publish Thaksin's interview and their own opinion. It's very possible that Time exploits on Thaksin's interview (they can design the strings of questions however they like), to (indirectly) present their own scrunity on the political issues in Thailand. Otherwise, if they choose to run an opinion piece on the same topic themselves, they would run into the legal/accusation troubles here.

I have spent time reading the full interview transcript and have been unable to find words from Thaksin's interview showing disrespect to or malicious mention of the king and the monarchy.

On the contary, Thaksin strongly expressed his royalty to the king and the crown prince. Thaksin definitely is against Prem and the "Palace Circles".

We have to differentiate between what was really said and what was the writer's view on this topic.

Hello, I'm a Chalermthai anime-lover who want to share my two cents.

To clarify the issue, I am neither a yellow man or a red one.

I believe I can read English at least moderately well.

I have skimmed the 12 pages, and I think the headline of the article and its content doesn't match at all. The phrase "calls for" used in the headline means "request", yet Thaksin didn't request anything in the article. The news reporter (understandably a foreigner who doesn't know Thai's respect to His Majesty the King) is the one who ask "What if...", and Thaksin then stated his opinion.

I must confess.....I haven't yet read K. Thaksin's interview, but...as I presume....I know this man for quite sometimes (of course, from his work performance). He proved to be a man with fully loyalty to Thai Royal Family and to his motherland, and without doubt, he loves thai people.

K. Hooters.....may I suggest that you should reconsider about your way of thinking. We need positive thinking persons in order to step forward. Taking/making revenge only do harm to our country.

I've come home and started reading all over the interview.Now it is half of the way....

I think that there're many ridiculous questions raised by the reporter. If he were in Thailand, with those questions, he could be sent to jail by the les' majesty court penalty.
I accept now that Mr. Taksin is so much smarter than me that h can wisely answer those guilty inquiries. From his speech, I see the reasonable royalist one.

If I were him, I may not know how to answer. I may get angry or say it directly that I can't answer Mr.Parry these questions because it is illegal and very strict in Thailand not to refer to (or just ever involve the discussion about) any events of the king and his royal family.

So then....what happen in the perspective of the foreigners?
I guess ,the result wouldn't be so positive for the royal family and Thai law system if I told him that true situation.

And if I were angry about his questions, what would happen?
It'd present my immaturity and bad manner of me.

So the way Taksin had made is the perfect way for me that I could never find how to react better than he did. He can protect the king from negative misunderstanding led by that reporter and keeped himself away from gulty penalty according to his words ( in common judgement standard).

But it's bad that this broad sheets company can't make it hit with these things. So they did their job as for the gutter press, made the over-prejudicial headline to persuade people to read and answer the article ....and they did well!!! The article is so popular.It invites lots of Thai to read and express their emotional attitude to insult Taksin.

Now we Thai have more conflicts. Taksin receives more hatred. The king was pulled down to the situation the he shouldn't be...Who gets some good things? Who receives the adventages from these except this reporter and his company?

So I saw one of the comments written down that Taksin use the Time for his own sake....I almost laughed 555. In controvertsy, the newspaper used us all....played with our minds....but we still never recognise it....and continue to fight with one another....

pity my homeland....pity Thai people....and pity myself....

The one who raise the deep topic about the monarchy was Mr. Parry, the reporter not that Taksin. And as my comment in rep.119 ,I think Taksin reacted the best he could do.Not to refuse to answer....kept on discussion.... made the wisely reply....showed the respect to the King and his loyal family.

If you could do the better way....plase show how would you answer those question if you were him. Please write everything down in English, you have the better choice than Taksin to rethink what you would like to answer , not the immediately eye-to-eye interview as him.

Why do I have to answer those questions if I know they will hurt me later on? If I were Thaksin, I would do the best interest for me by not saying those words at all. Thaksin might be careful to answer those questions, but why he doesn't think that this so sensitive questions may be implied in different way and could walk around to hurt himself. Jakrapob's speech is the best lesson and Thaksin has never learnt from that mistake.

If I were him and had refused to answer the question. The reflect in foreigner eyes might be worse for the monarchy and Thai law. And I (as him) would turn in to an unreasonable person if I hadn't told the reporter why can't I answer him.

But Taksin should to answer because (I guess) he want to clear misunderstanding of the foreigner about Thai royal family...make them clean and pay the respect to the king.

As I looked through all the interviews and article. I can say the real problem came from The reporter, not Thaksin. He deviated the real actual response form Thaksin who tried to support our beloved king. Mr writer put his words into his article that mislead to the readers.

The other bad thing is our Thai media especially from ASTV. Their title always discredits and exaggerates the message core.

I hope if everybody discovers the cause of this conflict, there should be a extreme punishment to ASTV. This is not the first time.

To be honest, I have full of assignment to submit therefore I have no time to finish.

From the first page, I noticed that he mentioned many positive things about Monarchy. Despite, he showed his respect through words by suggesting many solutions.

I think from his perspective, I do agree that he against "privacy council" not King as many newspapers try to distort this point.

I do agree with aforementioned that Taksin is a clever person. I think he knows how to play, and even he is trying to do something, he learns to make it as an imply decision, speak it right away is not his style.

To everyone, from my poor skim-skill, I do not think that Taksin referred Monarchy in a bad way. Repetition should not be a problem.
In fact, if you are hunting for responsible person, ASTV should be that one.

quoting ASTV words and ides, somehow, may harmful than TAKSIN's words so please be careful when referred any idea that arose from ASTV.

I've read all both the full script and the headline since yesterday that the link flied all over the Facebook.

Since I had an experience in Journalism Work. I think the Headline tried to touch the human interest and it implied from What Taksin said.

Of course, he didn't directly state that his "Shining Era" will come after S.O. pass away. Rather, he indirectly criticize the Privy Councils along with Lady-in-waiting and....(sorry better not write here) which he think this problem will be better if the crown prince become the next King.

As for me, I think he assault not directly to the King, but the people who surrounding him and you can imply that because of that the unrest in Thailand occurred. In other words, the King has no power to control his followers.

That's my impression for this interview.

BTW, I have one curious question, Taksin said the thing that he wants from the King, he said he wants peace to return to Thai People but he didn't state what King should do. In this context, can I imply that he wants the King to err... (better not write) do some action ?

Hi, I've read all the original conversation and also the scoop.
In my opinion Mr. Parry could not conclude the conversation into that headline.
As my consideration, there were not any sentences match with the word "call for" in the headline, however, I've no idea in which sentences that the government will execute by lese majeste law.

Hi, I have read all 12 pages carefully....my findings was nothing has Taksin implied of disrespect or insulting to H.M. or the royal family at all, Taksin opened his vision on future of Thailand and groans on events he has been through during years in his power until he was ousted.

In other hand, The reporter intends to get a word out of Taksin's mouth that shows any disrespect or what can be sold up in the headlines news.

I may agree that timing and topic was not appropriate to be published or Taksin should avoid some answers overthere, but it was S H I T disgusting for the other side to use this...as an accuse on one was that Unloyal, this will tear the feelings of Thais who put their purified heart and respects to the Monachy with which affects in wide and deep for Thais harmony between "Red" and "Yellow" then who will be responsible?

My idea is to blame and banned anyone who tries to get profit from these type of news, or proclaim daily on every TV channel these days.

I've read the interview also, and i saw nothing is wrong with that. Maybe because in thai society The King is prohibited to speak of. But if you see from a different point of view, it's not an insult. Thai media just giving a fault information....

I do agree on Mr. Thaksin that timesonline mislead his interview. As I read all his 12 pages interview "Thaksin Shinawatra: the full transcript of his interview with The Times" compare to the another preceding headline "Ousted Thai Leader Thaksin Shinawatra calls for 'shining' new age after...", there are many paragraphs that writer put his own opinion on.

First of all the title is supreme misleading. He doesn't call for shining new age after..., actually, he looks forward to see real Thailand democratic which privy councilor doesn't intervene on.

On 8th paragraph the writer said "The King has not explicitly endorsed their movement but many of Mr Thaksin's supporters believe the coup could not have happened without his consent." Mr. Thaksin didn't say anything about the king support for the coup. Almost of his answers on each questions, Mr.Thaksin always states that he always loyalty and love Thailand monarchy. He said he totally believe that Thai king never interferes on Thai Politic. He think that the group of people who support coup is not the king but privy councilor or palace circle (Ong ka mon tri). Although Mr. Thaksin didn't say anything about long live the king, he reasonably speak on Thailand situation very well both background and future.

It seemed that the PAD/Govt entirely and conveniently dismiss the editorial piece by Mr. Richard which previously meant as the introduction to the actual interview script. It was an obvious attempt for Mr. Richard to introduce the term 'shining new age' (of which might not exists in the 'true' script) and abuse on Thaksin's answers to his provocative string of questions, contributing into the Richard's LM piece along with the much troubled headline.

Strong headline of the interview was used to attract readers, nothing more.

I'm not sure if Thaksin's interviewer and the headline writer is the same person. If so, I think he, Parry, summarized the section regarding the Crown Prince and his ascension to the throne very badly, without regards or knowledge of Thailand's most sentsitive subject, or at least interpreted the response from Thaksin too far beyond what Thaksin might intend.

I'd say he, the reporter, is immoral or just ignorant, but for those who have exploited the subject for political gains I'd say they are simply evil, which doesn't suprprise me in the slightest.

I've read the full transcript and found out that Thaksin did not say any bad word about the King and his family.
However, I feel Thaksin himself has controversial opinions. Let me quote this interview;

How do you think the Thai monarchy needs to evolve in the next generation?
Being a constitutional monarch and understanding the changing world – that is enough to be a change.

This implies that he thought the King should not intervene any political activities. But on page 3 of the transcript he asked the King to solve the recent political problem.

So confusing. (Am I putting myself in a troble by discussing like this?, please tell me)

By his answer of the question I quoted earlier, people against him could interprete it in the bad way (or the way they want) as well.

I agree with you some context but not overall.

As you give an implication the meaning one of Thaksin's answer, I think it should be He doesn't want palace circle intervene the politic, not the king. On the other hand one might say that the king cannot control his palace circle.

For me, I'm neither red shirts nor yellow shirts. But I don't like the way of some media broadcast news. It isn't based on fact and analysis, It's subjective things.

So does the sentence Thaksin said: ‘Your Majesty, it's time for Your Majesty to be kind to the Thai citizens, by giving them peace. Let them stay together peacefully through the blanket amnesty and pardons. So let everyone go back to their normal life and draft the new constitution.’ imply that the King hadn't done anything like that (at least the "kind" part) before? Some may say "absolutely" and some "of course not". Not to mention the leading, yes-no question inquiring whether or not the Royal institution should be reformed.

Personally, I think Thaksin shouldn't have attended the controversial interview at all, since it gave our beloved government another anti-royal stick to hit Thaksin in the face.

Nevertheless, the way to say whether Thaksin is anti-royalist or not based on the data from this interview is vey subjective, depending on each person's opinion and on which side the person is. To me, I don't think Thaksin is that stupid.
