It was just a military way. They had to protect their subordinates belief and opinion on that fake stuff even though what their subordinates believed was not right. To stand against their soldiers was not the way they do in the army and the military morale would certainly be shaken if the general didnt support his officers.
Anyway, I dont agree with this move of Anupong. He certainly has other ways to solve this problem. He should bravely declare that it is top brass responsibility on this issue. He should also find some other devices that would help his soldiers to detect explosive stuff in any suspected areas.
