the Vector W8 was designed to take on the European exotic sports cars with American power and technology. The Vector's body styling looks contemporary today, neart twenty years after it was designed. The blend of fat planes, rounded masses, and angular divisions gives it the high- tech, "edgy" lock that is popular today.
A mid-engined car, its aluminum-composite monoque chassis was constructed of aerospace- grade materials with aerospace technology, and housed a twin-turbocharged aluminum-block 350 cubicinch V8 with an aleged 650 horsepower. Front suspension was a classic independent unequal- length control arm design; the rear used a Dedion axle for constant wheel camber, important given the 13 inch wide rear wheels. Brakes were 12.2 inch ventilated discs all around. These were needed -- with a curb weight of around 2500 lbs, and the power of the engine, the Vector W8's 0-to- 60 was a clamed 4.0 sec, with a top speed far in excess of 200 mph.
Few Vectors were produced, and so the car is far rarer and more exotic than any of the italian competition. In reality, the engine made "only" 600 hp or so in unsmogged trim and maybe 550 with smog equipment. The outrageous shape had a high amount of aerodynamic drag, which limited top speed to around 170 mph, which is not exactly slow.
