Thanks all for the above comments which have given me wonderful and interesting thoughts about the situation.
However, I would like to further add some remarks on the examples from Khun 512 in comment 5 which have been most valuable; very simple yet extremely MEANINGFUL!!!
I understand that Khun 512 is trying to portray the vast difference between the two sentencesone is very NEGATIVE while the other is very POSITIVE. I hope my understanding of Khun 512s response, which was enlightening, is correct. If it is, I consider Khun 512 a super intellectual person, who has taught me a highly valuable lesson, one that Ive never expected and that Ive only learned TODAY!!!
I would like to share with you and our readers an explanation why I consider the above sentences Very Negative vs Very Positive:
Sentence A: Most people would agree with this sentence as it can commonly be used in a variety of situations, especially in business. For example, when arranging an important, profitable meeting with clients, this sentence should be used to enforce into the clients the significance of the meeting and how important it is for the company. However, there are certain situations in which this sentence may not be appropriate and may even seem pessimistic.
Sentence B: When arranging a meeting with high, busy executives, this sentence should be used. Since the people we are inviting are often very busy, they may not have the time to reply to our messages. However, if they are unable to attend, natural instincts will ensure that theyll decline the invitation in some ways. Therefore, not only does this sentence sound more respectful and optimistic, it also ensures that we will not have any disadvantage in the case that the invited doesnt show up.
The above sentences (Sentence A & B) show how our perceptions, whether pessimistic or optimistic, are often reflected upon our choice of words. Therefore, it is important to express our thoughts, oral or written, carefully and respectfully, heeding the addressees and putting ourselves into their shoes.
If everyone is able to express his/her thoughts in an optimistic and courteous way, the world would probably be a much more peaceful place, with less conflicts and better understanding between people through more efficient communications.
Please correct me if my above thought is incorrect or share more of your opinions.
Thank you all for sharing.
