It depends... If you are really good in what you are doing, then getting big fat paycheck is very very easy.......
My job is a landscape architect..... I started working when I was 21 years old, as a teaching assistant at Chula. My salary was about 7,000 baht a month. Just enough to fill the gas for my car... ... After a semester, I quit and moved to work with a big design office, getting 15,000 baht a month. Not a very good job for me, but what the heck.... Then Tom Yum Kung Crisis happened, and I was one of the first who got laid off, because we were young and single. Easier for us than the married veterans. ... Luckily, my old boss, from my summer internship, called and offered me a job. He gave me 20,000 baht base salary plus overtime. He is a super famous designer, so we worked so damn hard for him. As a result, I got paid 35-40k a month at the time..... ... I was one of his favorite employees, so he wrote me a recommendation to one of the top schools of the World. So I went, for 2 years.... After graduation, with a master degree, I got a job in US. Working there for 4 years, and then, my old boss called me again. ... He wanted me back to help him. This time, he offered me 80k base salary plus overtime. To make it even better, he paid all the taxes for me. It was a great deal at the time, for a 28 years old single dude like me. I worked my ass off, dealing 10 projects for him at the same time. Every month, I usually got 150k into my bank account. ... I worked with him for 3.5 years. Every year, he gave me a big raise, plus bonuses. When I decided to leave, my base salary was 150k, after tax. So if I did overtime as usual, I would normally get 250k a month as a minimum.... ... It sounds great, right? So why I quit? Because I've always had a dream to run my own thing. My boss is a great man, and his projects are top notches! However, they are his projects, not mine. ... He is my role model, and he started up his studio when he was 29. I was 32 when I decided to leave. So I told him, and he gave me a big farewell..... ... Well........... If you want a big salary, you just have to prove you are worth it. My salary was very high,if not the highest, in my field. However, during my 3.5 years, I helped putting money into my Boss's bank account at least 100 million baht (considering my boss's fee is 10m per project at the minimum....)... ... So it was not only a great deal for me, but also a super great deal for my boss as well...... ... So my point is that if you want 100k a month, you have to make at least 300k for your boss. No one will give you big money, and expect nothing in return. If you can do it every month, then you can get whatever you want.... ... What do you think?
