Gold rose $3.13 to $1390.83 in early London trade before it fell to see a $2.42 loss at $1385.28 in midmorning New York trade, but it then bounced back higher in the last few hours of trade and ended with a loss of just 0.09%. Silver climbed to $29.475 and fell to $29.183 before it also rallied back higher and ended unchanged on the day.
Euro gold fell to under €1060, platinum gained $11.25 to $1725, and copper remained near yesterday’s new all-time high of $4.27.
Gold and silver equities traded mostly slightly lower and ended with about 1% losses.
Oil held most of its early gains at above $90 after the Energy Information Administration announced that crude inventories fell 5.3 million barrels, gasoline inventories rose 2.4 million barrels, and distillates fell 600,000 barrels.
The U.S. dollar index waffled near unchanged while the euro traded mixed on European debt worries.
Treasuries fell as the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mostly slightly higher on decent economic data
