@mercury_nuo: Thank you for your comments. If K-Bank wants to investigate further, that's up to K-Bank (I think they should, but honestly I don't care).
@dareem: I agree. I talked to the manager yesterday, and I got the distinct impression that she did not have full control over her employees. It seemed like they could anything they wanted in that bank.
Also, the manager was actually in the bank on both days, but she didn't come out to help her employees deal with me. If I really was such a big problem on the first day, shouldn't the manager come to see what was going on? And on the second day, when I came in to talk to the manager, she did not identify herself as a manager, but instead hid in the back room (her employees told me that she was "in a meeting at the HQ").
----------------------------------------------
So I went to the bank yesterday, because they said they wanted to show me some video. However, they didn't show me any video, so it was a big waste of time. There were some other K-Bank employees there (perhaps they were investigators), and so I talked with them instead.
So the manager said that I was "too loud" and that I showed the "middle finger" to the employees and that I "refused to leave the bank". All of that was untrue, so I said, "OK if that's what you say I did, please show me that on the video".
However they couldn't do it because they said the "video wouldn't write to a CD", and they refused to show me the videos on their TVs because the TVs were in a "secure room".
In other words, they said it was all my fault and they didn't do anything wrong. But the 'investigators' still said "sorry about this".
Hmmm....
So still no letter of apology from the bank, and no real admission of wrong-doing or poor customer service.
No apology was given about the motorcycle-taxi guys who were let into the bank to threaten me. Nobody admitted to calling them, and nobody explained why they were let into the bank in spite of the fact that they were making clearly threatening gestures at me through the window. Instead I was given some lame excuse that it was a "messenger who forgot a form". Except that I've lived in this neighborhood for years, and I know exactly who those guys were. I walk by them every day. They are the motorcycle taxi guys who sit on the corner of my soi.
So I'm really curious why the manager would lie to me about those motorcycle guys. Perhaps she thought I was just some dumb "tourist" who fell off the airplane yesterday. I'm not really sure. However, I do know that she was lying because I know those guys, and I know they are not messengers. Even if they weren't messengers, it was very clear that they were there for me, not some form. The guy that walked into the bank didn't pick up any forms, he just pointed at me and made threats.
I'd be able to prove all this, of course, but that branch's security cameras "can't write to CD", so I was unable to show the K-Bank investigators the evidence. Perhaps in the future, K-Bank should consider not allowing branch employees to have access to their own security cameras. Seems like that would create a potential for problems when investigating employee wrong-doing.
So this is what the manager said I did: 1) Refused to leave the bank after all the other customers had left. 2) Complained to the employees for three hours. 3) Showed my middle finger. 4) Shouted too loud. 5) Fight with another customer. 6) They didn't call the police on the second day.
This is what I say about that: 1) Nobody asked me to leave. There were other customers in the bank. So if the manager needed to "protect the money", why weren't those other customers removed by the police too?
I was talking with customer service people on the first day, and I was talking with another customer on the second day. In both cases, I was trying to get customer service. There was no mention by any bank employee that I should leave, and no warning that the police would be called if I didn't.
So basically, while I'm having a conversation with one employee, another one is calling the police.
2) Not possible. I arrived at the bank around 3:30pm on both days. In fact, they were locking the doors as I walked in. We could confirm this on their videos, of course, but......
3) Didn't do it. I never made a rude or violent gesture. I didn't use profanity. I didn't make any threatening or violent actions.
I. sat. in. a. chair.
Again, we'd be able to prove that, IF we could see the videos....
4) I didn't shout too loud. In fact, while I was talking with the K-Bank investigators, I asked them, "Are you scared? Do you feel threatened by me? Because I'm using exactly the same volume to talk to you as I used to talk to these employees." They all agreed that my tone of voice was acceptable.
5) I didn't fight with anyone. And when the police arrived, someone at the bank should have told the police that I wasn't fighting. Just because some crazy guy assaults me in their bank, that doesn't mean I was "fighting". I was the victim of an attack, not a fighter!
6) We asked the manager who called the police on the second day, and she said that noone at the bank did it. However we talked with the police and they told us that the bank called. She said "maybe the police just happened to be driving by, or maybe a customer in the bank called them."
However, the police didn't arrive on the second day until after I had left the bank. So they weren't just randomly driving by. Plus, the neighborhood police volunteer man had come to my friend and told her to call me and get me to come out of the bank, because he'd been warned that the police had been given the order to arrest me. So if the police were "just driving by" how would the volunteer be able to warn my friend?
Also, if a customer had called the police, then that refutes the manager's complaint that I refused to leave the bank after all the other customers had left. How could a customer call the police if they'd already left? As far as any of the other customers in the bank knew on that day, I was just another customer, standing there, waiting for service. I didn't complain loudly, and I didn't behave badly. So why would a customer feel the need to call the police? And if a customer did call the police, why did the manager lie about there being no customers in the bank?
Strange.
Anyway, this whole thing is a huge waste of time. I'd delete this topic already, except for one thing:
The K-Bank 'investigator' asked me to delete this topic.
Why would they be so concerned about this topic if my version didn't have some truth in it? If I was lying, they could post here and clearly refute my story. Heck, they could even post video of me "misbehaving" in the bank as proof. But they can't, because the video confirms MY story, not the manager's.
Clearly they are trying to whitewash over some major problems at that branch. The video "doesn't work" and the stories of the police and the motorcycle taxi-drivers (yes, I talked with the motorcycle guys who came to the bank that day, after all, I walk past them every day) contradict the words of the bank's manager and staff.
If I was so wrong, why would the manager feel the need to lie and exaggerate my actions?
If I was lying, why would the police and motorcycle guys tell a different story than the bank manager?
The K-Bank people said that the manager and staff would "write personal letters of apology", but that it would not be an official apology from the bank.
So far, I haven't seen anything in my mailbox yet.....
In the end, I left the bank hugely dissatified. I felt like my time had been wasted and nothing positive was accomplished. The bank employees clearly felt that they had done nothing wrong which is exactly why I want that letter of apology. My purpose is strictly educational. These people need to understand that what they did is TOO MUCH and unacceptable treatment of any customer, Thai or foreign.
If K-Bank truly values all of it's customers, then they should spend a little less time pointing the finger of blame away from themselves and asking people to delete topics that show them in a bad light, and a little more time training their employees to treat all customers with respect and dignity.
We'll see what happens, but perhaps we'll delete this topic in a few days anyway. After all, most K-Bank employees are probably very decent people and their reputations don't deserve to be sullied by the actions of a few bad apples.
But at the moment, K-Bank has done nothing. So I'll do the same.
