1.Kehoe Construction reports income tax expense of $224000 on its income statement. Include in income was interest income of $40000 from tax-free municipal bonds that the company owns. The company had a timing difference of $80000 that will result in a future tax deduction. The company's tax rate this year is 40% but its tax rate in future years will be 30%.
What is Kehoe Construction's taxable income for the year?
a. $520000
b. $600000
c. $620000
d. None of Above
Income tax owed = Iconme tax expense + Diff.Deferred tax liability
$248000 = $224000 + 0.3($80000)
Income tax owed = Tax rate(Taxable Income)
$248000 = 0.40(Taxable Income)
So Taxable Income = 620000
-----------------------------------------------------
Tax Expense =$224000
so, Pretax Income(Exclude municiple bond's interest) = 224000/0.4 = $560000
Timing Difference of revenue = $80000
So Taxable Income = $560000+$80000 = $640000
