Here's some homework. Tilghman is not a young woman (nearly 40); she knew how the word was used in the context;if she didn't she wouldn't have used in a sentence. She has a BA in Political Science and History. The two-week suspension means nothing but two weeks off. It's without pay, no fines are prorated. The true financial impact comes' opportunities lost from prospective product endorsements. As far as this being a single incident made without malice a few blogs disagree. They cite half-dozen questionable remarks made by Tilghman. They are: On Morgan Pressel (who is Jewish), after she won the Kraft Nabisco Championship at age 18: "If she keeps this kind of play up, the other players are going to need to put her on the Kindertransport if they want to win again." On No. 1 ranked golfer Lorena Ochoa (from Mexico): "That was such a dominating performance, the only thing that could have stopped her was a call to INS and a trip in a van back over the border." On superstar Annika Sorenstam (from Sweden), after her defeat at the 2007 Mastercard Classic: "Perhaps she should take a cue from so many of her countrymen and kill herself." On former major winner Se Ri Pak (from Korea): "It looks like she's put on some weight in the time off since her injury - maybe she needs to add more salads and less Chicken Fried Cat." I've observed her once on air making disrespectful remarks to Nick Faldo trying to outwit him but ultimately failing. We've all seen jerks use sarcasm and quickly saying " I was just kidding or I didn't mean anything." Finally, the media is pushing forgiveness while pushing intolerance under the same pen an oxymoron. The media created the minefield and have claimed many in public forefront (Cosell, Jimmy The Greek', Imus, Savage, politicians, etc.). Stop empowering people like Sharpton who has committed the same offense. Take those numerous talk radio/TV show hosts off your radar you dislike and waiting for them to implode. Only then I consider a pass for Tilghman.
