Blues focus on Hart deal
MANCHESTER City will step up contract talks with Joe Hart in a bid to fend off interest from Tottenham.
As boss Mark Hughes closes in on a deal to secure Richard Dunne's long-term future, his next priority is to hang on to England goalkeeper Hart, who signed a £5,000-a-week contract when he arrived at City from Shrewsbury as a back-up keeper in 2006.
But since then, he has established himself as the Blues' first-choice keeper, and made his full England debut in the friendly against Trinidad and Tobago two weeks ago.
The 21-year-old, who has two years left on his current deal, turned down an improved contract offer last month, but Hughes and executive chairman Garry Cook are determined to do all they can to persuade the keeper to sign up.
They are already heading for success in talks with Dunne, who is set to commit his future to the Blues after being offered a new deal which would almost double his £28,000-a-week salary.
Vital
Hughes sees tying up Hart and Dunne on new contracts as vital as he bids to secure a solid backbone around which to build his City side.
Spurs boss Juande Ramos has been interested in Hart for several months, and is looking for a keeper to replace the out-of-form Paul Robinson.
But Dunne's move towards a new deal, just two weeks after he looked likely to leave for Tottenham or Portsmouth, has given City a double boost.
Hart, the club's Young Player of the Year, is understood to have indicated that he does want to stay at City if the right deal can be struck.

ฮาร์ทซึ่งกลายเป็นประตูตัวหลักของซิตี้ไปแล้ว แถมยังได้ลงเล่นเปิดตัวแบบเต็มๆกับทีมชาติอังกฤษไปเมื่อสองสัปดาห์ก่อนในเกมที่เจอกับตรินิแดดและโตเบโก ลองเปรียบเทียบกับพี่ดันน์ ที่ร่ำๆจะไปๆจากซิตี้ แต่ตอนนี้ได้สัญญาใหม่เอี่ยมไปแล้ว (หลังจากที่ร้องจะไปได้แค่ 2 สัปดาห์) และกำลังจะได้ค่าเหนื่อยใหม่ในอัตรา 56,000 ปอนด์ต่อสัปดาห์ (อะไรวะ!!!)
