comments from English fans for ความคิดเห็นที่ 39 นับถอยหลังเพื่อปิดดีลซื้อทีมซิตี้ about Dr. Thaksin V V V Blue Benny, thai politics are quite dodgy to say the least.no wonder frank didn't go back.fancy having to stand down for fronting a cookery programme!!! THIS IS OUR CITY.CTID. ------------------- I must admit, I was a bit scepticle about Thaksin's motives when he bought MCFC, but over time he has convinced me that he genuinely had MCFC's best interests at heart & it's unlikely that we'd be in this situation now without his contacts & best intentions towards MCFC --------------------- Well thats more like it!! I was never comfortable with all the boosting about signing this player and that for the Lord knows how much. However, I go along with those who also want to thank Dr Thaksin for his involvement. Last summer after 2006-07, we were facing total oblivion. We had a poor squad, no money, major debts and no manager. The good Dr bought our club -some would suggest that his offer to the shareholders was too low but at the time, and with the state we were in I doubt we would have got any better deal. The Arabs were not around then and we may not have been as attractive an investment as we are now in any case. Thaksin brought in a manager of great, if sometimes flawed ability in Sven and for the most part we enjoyed the ride that was 2007-08. If political matters back home had not forced the issue in terms of frozen assets and the subsequent loss of financial clout, there is no reason to think that the Thaksin bandwagon would not have delivered on the promises made at the time of his takeover. Well the rest is history. But at least Thanksin, showing his sound business acuman, did not - as many have done in the past, notably Peter Swailes RIP - hold on to grim death to his ownership of the club with pride and vanity damaging the very thing these people claim to love. It may well be that his financial situation dictated tha a sale had to be made at the earliest opportunity. But that being the case he still pulled one almighty large rabbit out of the hat in our new prospective owners. We could have been bought by any group of people flashing a couple of hundred million, and, great as these sums are, there are plenty of people about who could of done so. Such people have no great interest in football and are only concerned with property rights, publicity and making a quick buck. It appears, instead, that Thaksin has found some extreamly astute, solid and wealthy businesmen who seem to have a plan, and the dosh to deliver it. So I say "Thanks, Dr Thaksin, I hope all goes well for you back home and that the truth, whatever it is comes out and that you are allowed to live in peace and quiet if thats what you seek!. And feel free to drop into the COMS whenever your passing, although you might not recognise it in a couple of years hence". As for the new boys, welcome aboard, remember that the vast heritage that is our City is not a plaything to be tampered with regardless, (although it appears we don't need to worry on that score), and please bring us stability, honours and glory. That will reflect well on our gret city, our great Club, our nation and ulimately, yours. ------------------------ I too am glad that things have settled down and the boasting has stopped. It's not the City way. However, we seem to be forgetting that Frank's vision to make City a worldwide brand included big plans for the far east where he has countless contacts and ways of developing business. My worry, with the Arab takover, is that we would lose all this 'Potential' but, with Frank still having a 10% stake in the club, we still have all those contacts at his disposal. And who knows, maybe Frank has negotiated a deal whereby if his name is ultimately cleared of any wrong doing and remember, it's a corrupt body of people in Thailand making the accusations, that he might have a deal whereby he will be entitled to buy back a larger share in the club but without taking control. The way he has handled himself has to be admired. As soon as there was a chance that he could embarass the club by failing the 'Right and proper' test for the Premier League, he tooks steps to rectify the situation so, as far as I am concerned, he is a 'Top Dollar' bloke who DOES have feelings for the club and has, hopefully, passed City into a very successful period in the clubs history. Frank is an asset that we should cherish. --------------------- Im personally not at all astounded that the Dr T situation is the way it is.... the guy is without doubt one of the many successful venture capitalists across the world who actually knows how to make profit in any business ventures he goes in to.I don't personally care if this was his intention to sell up originally for profit or not.... were where we are because of his little black book (that would make great reading) and thus rule the financial world ha ahahahahahahahahahahahahahh. seriously the dr's name should be sang throughout on saturday.....would make a great film, the best one's are always the perceived baddy that makes good... a true hero.... end of. ------------------------- Sounds good to me, although as this is City we're talking about, I'll save my celebrating until after due diligence is completed if you don't mind! Several interesting points. Firstly, I like the cut of Sheikh Mansour's gib, and if he's prepared to put his faith in Mark Hughes, so much the better. Secondly, my thanks to Frank for not letting ego stand in the way of the greater interests of the club (I had feared he might do a Swales, and cling to power in the face of all reason), although if he's only making 10m on the sale, it suggests that necessity may have been the mother of invention in terms of brokering the deal in the first place (ie we were in serious financial doo doo). Thirdly, for the benefit of Ace Shakespeare, I should have thought events in Thailand these last few weeks would have made it transparently obvious that what Frank faces in Thailand is not justice, but politically motivated punishment from a corrupt judiciary (the courts even announced yesterday that the democratically elected, pro-Frank Government should be dissolved on the grounds that the PM hosted his own cookery show for heaven's sake)! Whether he's guilty or not is now irrelevant, as he demonstrably cannot expect to receive a fair trial, and I hope his request to remain in the UK is granted. ---------------------------- We should all show our appreciation to Thaksin on Saturday. Without his investment we would probably have somebody like Gary Megson as manager and have players like Robert Earnshaw and Henri Kamara instead of Elano, SWP and Jo. From what I have read and seen the crimes he is charged with are politically motivated and Thai politics are to say the leasta little bit suspect.
