Papers: The Sun says sorry

Last Saturday's paper reported how Manchester United were 'investigating' an FA ruling that potentially allows teams drawn against each other in the FA Cup to play extra time after their first game and not just the replay. Regrettably, our headline 'Cup Killers' gave a false impression that United, and their manager Sir Alex Ferguson, were deliberately trying to destroy the fabric of the competition. We totally accept this is not the case and apologise for any embarrassment our headline may have caused.

The apology appears on the inside back pages of The Sun, which are largely dominated by an analysis of United's and Liverpool's contrasting results since Rafa Benitez's infamous rant about Sir Alex - four draws for Liverpool and five wins for the champions.
Speaking of rants, The Sun quotes West Brom boss Tony Mowbray on the performance of referee Rob Styles during United's 5-0 win at The Hawthorns earlier this week. The red card shown to Paul Robinson for a challenge on Ji-sung Park has since been overturned by the FA. Mowbray said: "It's almost as if some referees like to be the friend of the stars. Mr Styles also did our game at Chelsea. It was 'Frank this', and 'Frank that'. He doesn't know the names of any of our players and it's too easy to go and brandish a card."
The latest piece of transfer speculation comes in The Guardian, which claims Carlos Tevez is considering his options, including a move to Manchester City, in case United decide not to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season. Finally, The Mirror claims China is 5/2 favourite to be the country of origin for United's next shirt sponsor.
