Chelsea & City To Swoop For Alonso If Real Deal Stalls?
Just getting ready for another busy weekend in The Transfer Tavern as someone from the Daily Mail tells us, that Chelsea & Manchester City are ready to pounce for Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso should La Liga giants Real Madrid stall on meeting the Premier League sides valuation of the Spaniard,
Sportsmail claiming, that Los Blancos and the Merseyside club are just £2.5milion apart as the saga of the Spanish Internationals protracted move to the Bernabeu enters its final throes.
Apparently negotiations are to continue this weekend as Reds manager, with a deadline set for Monday to finalise any move from Anfield to Spain for Alonso.
It said a compromise could be reached at around £28million for 27-year-old Alonso following the midfielders transfer request, but even though Liverpool, have already reduced the asking price they will not drop too far below £30million and will use the interest from the Premiership and Italy as a bargaining chip.
Chelsea and City both made enquiries for Alonso back in May, according to the paper, with Liverpool insisting he is not for sale. However, new Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is claimed to remain keen on bringing the EURO 2008 star to Stamford Bridge, but at the right price and is still in talks with his former charge Andrea Pirlo at AC Milan.
