Cesc eyes end to trophy drought Gunners captain has faith in Wenger's squad
Cesc Fabregas is confident Arsenal have sufficient quality to end their four-year trophy drought by earning glory this season.
The Gunners have not won a tournament since the 2005 FA Cup and there are concerns over a squad shed of Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure, who have joined Manchester City.
It has been suggested that the best Arsene Wenger's side can hope for in the coming season is a fourth-placed Premier League finish, but Fabregas is more optimistic.
"We will never start the season thinking that we are going to finish fourth," said the Arsenal captain.
"Every big club goes through difficult moments and we are in one at Arsenal - but we have to be stronger than ever and stick together and I am sure we will be fine.
"For the last three seasons, we have been unlucky with injuries so hopefully this year we can all stay fit. The quality is here and I believe we can do it."
Spain international Fabregas is also aiming to improve his personal form, adding: "Individually, my target (for this season) is to improve everything, because at my age, I believe it is the right thing to do.
"Of course if I can score more goals than ever, the better it will be for the team."
Fabregas also believes Jack Wilshere, who scored twice in a recent pre-season win over Rangers, is a reason for optimism.
He added: "For every club you can have big names coming in, but when you have a talent that comes through the youth system, I think it is one of the proudest things for a club.
"You have seen Jack Wilshere in those two games and Fran Merida came here from Barcelona when he was 15 - now he is 19 so he has been working with Arsenal for four years and he has improved a lot.
"When I was injured I was training a lot with the reserves, and there is some really great potential in there."

Rosicky hails dangerman Arshavin Czech international salutes Russian playmaker
Tomas Rosicky has told skysports.com that a 'dangerous' Andrey Arshavin will be at the forefront of Arsenal's challenge for silverware in the coming season.
Arshavin made an instant impact following a club record ฃ15 million move from Zenit St Petersburg in February, scoring six goals and claiming seven assists in 15 games for the Gunners as he immediately earned a reputation as one of the Premier League's finest playmakers.
That perception was only confirmed when he scored a remarkable four goals at Anfield in April, with his tormenting of Liverpool the standout memory of a deeply-impressive first six months in England.
The Russia international is now preparing for his first full season as an Arsenal player and, after being named player of the tournament at the Emirates Cup, sizeable expectations have been placed upon the diminutive forward.
However, Rosicky expects the 28-year-old to live up to the hype as the Gunners aim to win their first piece of silverware since the 2005 FA Cup for manager Arsene Wenger.
"Everyone can see that he is a very intelligent and dangerous player for every opponent," Rosicky told skysports.com.
"I think he made an immediate impact last season when he came. It was only six months.
"I hope we can achieve something together and we will fight for trophies this year.
"Of course this is a very important season for him but the same thing can be said for all of us."
