Florentino Perez, Raul, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo raise their glasses to toast Madridistas
Florentino Perez, Raul, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo gathered round the Christmas tree to wish Madridismo a Happy New Year and to express their personal and professional resolutions for 2010. Winning the tenth European Cup in healthy fashion is the primary objective for these four pillars of Real Madrid.
One of them presides over the Best Club of the 20th Century and the other three play in stadiums that welcome thousands of fans each Sunday. But in the intimacy of their own homes they celebrate the holiday season and wish for the health and happiness of their families just like the rest of us mere mortals. What they desire for 2010 therefore comes as no surprise: Health is the most important thing. I have recently had the opportunity to confirm it, confessed Florentino Perez. Raul, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka second the presidents comment: We wish for healthy families and Madridistas, and that staying healthy helps us accomplish many great things in the New Year.
Health that allows us to enjoy the holiday season with our friends and families. From Spain, to Portugal to Brazil, each of them celebrates the holiday surrounded by their loved ones. We have always celebrated Christmas with the family. Our parents taught us that it is a time to be together, and now that they are no longer with us, we celebrate it with my siblings, my nieces and nephews and the entire family. They are very intimate, familiar and warm, said Florentino Perez. Raul, who has five children including a newborn daughter, will enjoy spending time with his little ones. We are one more this year. We will enjoy the time to relax in everybodys company and to eat and laugh a lot. I will also take advantage of the time we all have off to spend every minute with my kids, commented the captain.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Kaka will also join the company of their loved ones. It will be a special time because I will be in Brazil with my entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. We do a lot of things around the house, eat a lot and celebrate. It is a very special occasion, added Kaka. Cristiano Ronaldo is equally as excited about gathering with his family and friends. I will celebrate Christmas with the whole family. It is a very special time that I thoroughly enjoy because I am unable to be with my family throughout most of the year. For all of us to be able to come together makes us very happy.
On a professional note, the four are hoping for a very successful New Year. I hope to remain injury free and that I am able to help the club win all the competitions it is competing in. And not only this year, but all those in the future as well, affirmed Crisitiano Ronaldo. Kaka expressed the same desire, commenting that, It is a special year with the World Cup coming up. It would be great to have a successful year with Real Madrid and the national team. According to the president, I hope this exciting project comes together. We want to make Madridismo proud by playing well, creating good football and generating excitement, all of which would continue conquering fans hearts through our values.
Raul, meanwhile, has one clear goal for 2010. My greatest desire is to help my team win the Tenth, declared the captain, It would be a dream come true. We need to accomplish goals in order to fulfill it. We will try very hard because the responsibility we feel will give us a lot of energy. Kaka thinks the Champions League is the most important competition. We have the chance to play the final in our own stadium. It would be incredible to play it in front of our fans, added the Brazilian.
Cristiano agreed that playing the final in the Bernabeu would be amazing. I am hopeful that we will improve a lot. Reaching the final would be incredible for the players and the fans. Winning the Tenth would be the icing on the cake for the first year of Florentino Perezs project. The European Cup is a special part of Real Madrids history. We feel comfortable playing in the competition and this year we have the added incentive of playing the final at home.
