Mao Asada (浅田 真央, Asada Mao?) (born September 25, 1990) is a Japanese figure skater.
She is the 2010 Winter Olympic silver medalist, the 2008 World champion, the 2008 and 2010 Four Continents champion, the 2005-06 and 2008-09 season Grand Prix Final champion, the 2005 World Junior champion, the 2005 Junior Grand Prix Final champion and a four-time Japanese national champion (200609). As of March 2010, she is ranked 3rd in the world by the ISU.[1]
Kim Yu-Na (Hangul: 김연아, Hanja: 金姸兒, IPA: [kimjʌna]; born September 5, 1990 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do) is a South Korean figure skater.
She is the 2010 Winter Olympic champion in ladies singles, the 2009 World champion, the 2009 Four Continents champion, a three-time (20062007, 20072008, 20092010) Grand Prix Final champion, the 2006 World Junior champion, the 20052006 Junior Grand Prix Final champion, and a four-time (20022005) South Korean national champion.
Kim is the first South Korean figure skater to have medaled at an ISU Junior or Senior Grand Prix event, ISU Championship, or Olympic Games. She is one of the most highly recognized athletes and media figures in South Korea.[1]
As of March 2010, Kim is ranked first in the world by the International Skating Union (ISU).[2] She is also the current record holder for ladies in the short program,[3] the free skating[4] and the combined total[5] under the ISU Judging System. She was the first female skater to surpass the 200-point mark[5] under the ISU Judging System.
