Reds wait on Rooney injury

Wayne Rooney left the Allianz Arena on crutches on Tuesday night, after injuring his right ankle in the final moments of United's 2-1 loss to Bayern Munich.
The sight of him limping off the pitch will worry United fans worldwide, especially with the second leg only a week away, not to mention a certain clash with Chelsea in the meantime. But Sir Alex Ferguson said it was too early in the aftermath of the Bayern match to assess the severity of Wayne's injury.
"We’ll just have to wait and see how his ankle is tomorrow (Wednesday). Hopefully it’s not too serious. He might be doubtful for Saturday (Chelsea) but we don’t know for sure."
Rooney did not travel back on the team bus from the Allianz Arena, instead departing separately with security staff. His right foot was encased in a protective boot.
Like the United squad, ManUtd.com's Nick Coppack stayed in Munich on Tuesday night. Look out for news on Wayne's injury as soon as he gets it.
