Player Ratings: Arsenal 2-1 Birmingham City จาก Goal
Arsenal
Lukasz Fabianski = 7.0 Unlucky for Zigic's opener, was at full stretch but was perhaps caught by surprise with what was something of an unorthodox looping effort. Before that point had been a commanding presence in his own box; holding onto shots and punching clear crosses with some aplomb. Carried that on through the rest of the match to ensure no mistakes saw this match end up a draw.
Johan Djourou = 7.0 Perhaps one of the real bright spots for Arsene Wenger from this game. Gave as good as he got against Zigic in the air (no mean feat - apparent from the goal) and covered lots of ground as he made numerous interceptions and blocks. A very nice display.
Emmanuel Eboue = 6.0 A quite afternoon for the Ivorian, rarely ventured too far forward as defence became the priority. Fahey's cross for Zigic's goal came from his side of the pitch, but otherwise criticism would be harsh of a decent display. Was booked for a tackle that was perhaps not deserving.
Gael Clichy = 6.0 Missed a good chance to score a goal, but that's not really his job. Was fortunate in that Larsson's pace was never really going to trouble him, and did a decent job sealing off his area of responsibility.
Sébastien Squillaci = 6.5 Captain for the day, looked to be leading by example as he had an early headed effort ruled out for offside. Struggled with Zigic in the air but was otherwise decent as he marshalled the defence.
Andrey Arshavin *Flop of the Match = 5.0 Quiet again, the Russian's form is quickly becoming a graver cause for concern. Was presented with a couple of opportunities he failed to take advantage of, and when he got on the ball in dangerous areas his feet tended to fail him. Needs to up his workrate, and perhaps the form will return too.
Vassiriki Diaby *Top of the Match = 8.0 Another one to put on a real show, a world away from his underwhelming display against West Brom a couple of weeks prior. Quick feet continually on display, he made a mockery of Johnson and Dann on a number of occasions and embarrassed Bowyer enough for him to resort to kicks at his heels. Final ball and shot couldn't be found, though — if it had we could be talking about a 9.0 rating.
Alexandre Song Bilong = 6.5 A solid display from the heart of midfield, he won and distributed the ball tirelessly in a no-nonsense effort. Perhaps more restrained than in weeks past, the extra space that created gave Diaby room to make a real impression — something Wenger will surely have noted.
Jack Wilshere = 6.5 Another to play well in midfield, without really dominating. His quickness of thought and feet caught out the Birmingham defenders on a few occasions, and he didn't shy away from the physical stuff. Through ball for Chamakh created crucial second, and from then on he tormented opponents with clever play. Late sending off for tackle on Zigic may or may not have been harsh, but will be a lesson for him to learn.
Samir Nasri = 7.0 Took responsibility for the ppnealty that brought his side back into the game. Showed good hunger for the fight without ever subsequently slicing open the opposition defence.
Marouane Chamakh = 7.5 A big display from the Moroccan, especially with Nicklas Bendtner back to fitness. Was accused of diving for the first-half penalty, but it was more of an exaggeration as contact certainly seemed present. Consequently was singled out for abuse from Dann and Johnson, but shrugged that off to score a fine goal of his own that changed the game.
• Substitutions
Nicklas Bendtner = 6.0 Returned to action with 10 minutes in the stead of goalscorer Chamakh. Narrowly missed getting on the end of cross to score immediate goal.
Tomas Rosicky = 6.0 Replaced Arshavin with 20 minutes to go. Turn and spin created a dangerous opportunity early on, and his attitude perhaps deserves a run of football.
