Important save in first half with his feet to deny Hoilett. Crucial intervention which allowed his side to push on for victory. Handelling was solid all afternoon.

Not really troubled at the back, which allowed the full-back to support the attack whenever his side had the ball. He had a couple of long range opportunites which went well wide and he bombarded the visitors' box with crosses.

Not the man you would have thought of before the game but the big defender was Chelsea's goal hero. He picked up John Terry's flick-on and slotted home from close range past a host of defenders and Paul Robinson. Hardly tested in defence. Also, created second as his goalbound effort was flicked in by Anelka.

Showed huge drive and urged his side forward at every opportunity. Not the busiest of afternoons for the Chelsea skipper but he showed all of his leadership skills at a time the Blues badly need them.

Played more like a left winger than a left full-back. Got to the byline to give his side an extra option and crossed well all game. Not troubled defensively.

Shielded his defence well and played the simple balls forward. Gave his side extra numbers in attack as the home side looked to break the deadlock. Also, provided a threat from set pieces, but not the most taxing day for the Ghana international. Replaced by McEachran

Hit the bar with an early effort but still failing to live up to his price tag. Moved the ball forward with pace but made wrong decisions at the vital times.

Marked tightly firstly by David Dunn and then by Jason Lowe. Moved the ball into good positions and tried to get himself in the box at every opportunity but the ball did not fall for him today.

Made a couple of telling contributions in the first-half when he put Drogba clean through on goal and then he hit the bar after getting on the end of a whipped cross into the box. Blasted another opportunity wide early in the second-half.

Had two glorious opportunites when put through on goal, but seemed sluggish as he allowed Blackburn defenders to get back and make last ditch tackles. Worked hard for his side and roamed the field putting in good crosses from both sides of the pitch, but looks off the pace at the moment.
