Rating from Goal.com - MOM Ozil ค่ะ
Germany Manuel Neuer 7.5 Hardly tested for most of the match, but was typically brilliant when called upon. Distributed the ball with class, and made excellent saves from De Rossi and Borriello. Also stopped Rossi's shot, but the striker took the rebound and netted the equaliser. Neuer made only one mistake as he weakly punched a cross, but he also managed to save his team from what would have been a humiliating defeat.
Holger Badstuber 5.5 Controversially granted a start after his poor performance against Koeln, and his display left something to be desired. Was a bit too aggressive at times, and conceded three free kicks. In his defence, the Bayern man did read the game well and kept in position.
Per Mertesacker 6.0 Cleaner and just as sturdy as his partner in defence, but the Bremen man allowed Rossi a bit too much space as the Italian equalised. Cannot be fully at fault for the equaliser, however; Rossi would have been offside had the entire German defence held its line.
Philipp Lahm 7.0 Beaten once by Chiellini, but was otherwise very impressive. In just 64 minutes, the captain had an amazing 80 touches. In defence, he was rarely troubled, and going forward, Lahm had all the technique and creativity of an attacking midfielder. His ball to Mueller set events in motion for a rather spectacular goal.
Dennis Aogo 7.0 The Hamburg man justified his inclusion in Loew's squad ahead of Marcel Schmelzer. Aogo tirelessly ran up and down the left flank, took care of the ball, and was strong at the back as well. His one mistake was being caught out of position late in the first half, but in that instance he recovered and made a good block, albeit with suspicion of hand ball.
Lukas Podolski 5.5 Started the game well, but faded when it seemed that Germany were content to hold onto their lead. Was conspicuously missing as his team pushed for a late winner. His only contribution late in the game was to take the ball away from Oezil when the playmaker was lining up a shot.
Bastian Schweinsteiger 5.5 Statistically brilliant: back in his favoured defensive role, he made 126 touches and completed 86 of 94 attempted passes. Schweinsteiger was like a terrier to the ball in the first half...and then faded away. After the break, he didn't have the same drive as he had before, and Germany struggled. The DFB-Elf clearly needed more in the engine room in order to hold onto their narrow lead.
Mesut Özil Top of the Match 7.5 Ran and ran and ran, and accordingly, was always involved. Though he was in an attacking midfield role, the Real Madrid man somehow managed 114 touches and 82 completed passes. He also set up seven shots - one was the gorgeous back heel that catalysed the opener, and at least one or two more should have resulted in goals.
Sami Khedira 6.0 Like Schweinsteiger, the Real Madrid man ran tirelessly in the first half, and chased down his opponents whenever they looked like breaking forward. And then, he stopped trying so hard. He earns extra points for getting forward late; the former Stuttgart midfielder nearly netted the winner, but had his effort denied by a good save.
Thomas Müller 7.0 When he plays, Germany look so much better. Mueller covered a tremendous amount of ground in the first half, and his interplay with Oezil created Klose's goal. Had he stayed on for the final 45 minutes, Germany probably would have won.
Miroslav Klose 7.0 Took his goal well and deserved another, but had his shot saved by Buffon. As usual, the 'semi-retired' Bayern man put on a good performance for country. He worked hard, and made all the runs necessary to confuse the Italian defence.
Substitutions Mats Hummels 5.5 Replaced Badstuber for the final 26 minutes and was rather unfortunate to be involved in playing Rossi onside ahead of the equaliser. The Dortmund man surely deserves a bit more time to prove himself on the international level.
Jerome Boateng 6.0 The Manchester City man replaced Lahm for the final 26 minutes and played well without doing anything spectacular. Boateng is good as a secondary option on the flank, but his inability to replicate Lahm's attacking quality showed, especially when Germany started pushing for a winner.
Mario Götze 6.0 Replaced Mueller at half-time, but really had no place in the team that played. Goetze is a #10, and cannot take on the wide role that Mueller and Podolski play in Loew's set-up. He linked well with Oezil, but was not the primary ball-player in the attacking third, and had no striker to set up.
Kevin Großkreutz 6.0 Featured as a late substitute and made no mistakes, but was unable to find his way into a dangerous position. Took good shot from distance, but was unable to get his foot around the ball to curl it in.
