SECOND HALF
Portugal started the second half stronger and inside the first minute, ALMEIDA hit the bar from a RONALDO's cross.
ALMEIDA then hit a speculative header against the bar and Cristiano was terrible on the rebound and sent it flying very high.
And then after another cross from the Real Madrid star, ALMEIDA had that missed that will be talked about for days.
It was time for some changes from both teams and Portugal reshuffled their entire attack, taking NANI, Cristiano RONALDO and ALMEIDA off after 60 minutes.
Argentina struggled to find their feet at the beginning, but slowly started to find some spaces and ways of exploiting them.
Pablo ZABALETA, Lucas BIGLIA, Javier PASTORE and Juan Manuel MARTINEZ all had their chances to play and it was PASTORE who got the closest in two occasions.
He was denied by the excellent sub goalkeeper Rui PATRICIO, who closed him down after MESSI gave the Palermo star a brilliant pass inside the area.
Rui PATRICIO also denied MESSI from a wonderful free-kick goal that was surely flying into the top left corner.
Then, after a cross from a MESSI free-kick, PASTORE headed it towards the bar and it looked like it was going to end 1-1 and stop the streak of 30 matches without a draw for Argentina.
Until MARTINEZ and ZABALETA combined down the right in the last minute. A very clever through ball from MARTINEZ, forced Fabio COENTRAO to make a last gasp tackle on ZABALETA. It looked like a penalty, but the ref waved play on. But in a heart-beat, MARTINEZ got first to the rebound and COENTRAO this time left no doubts: a definite penalty.
MESSI took it to the left, Rui PATRICIO went to the right and that was game-over. Argentina 2-1 over Portugal .
