Germany Manuel Neuer
5.5 Rarely called into action, but made one good save from Alves in the 33rd minute. Might have been able to deny Neymar's goal on another day, but was not particularly at fault for the Santos man's thunderous strike. Philipp Lahm
5.0 Not the best of games for the skipper, who is much better on the right. Beaten for pace by Pato early in the second half, and later conceded a penalty for an uncharacteristically poor challenge. Had one nice shot from distance but was Germany's least convincing defender on the evening. Holger Badstuber 7.5 Formed a brilliant partnership with Hummels; by now it is quite clear that his Bayern Munich form does not translate to his performance in a Germany shirt. Slipped once, but otherwise kept the Brazilian attack largely quiet, even if the DFB team's full-backs struggled. Mats Hummels
8.0 Committed a pair of fouls in the early play, neither of which put the hosts in danger. Showed brilliant anticipation, one-on-one defending, and as a result, Brazil rarely looked a threat on goal. Absolutely top class from the Dortmund man, who also showed a few flashes of skill on the ball as he distributed from deep. Christian Träsch
5.5 Defended very energetically and did well in most situations, but was prone to mistakes. Beaten a couple times on the flank, and conceded possession several times with poor touches. Also defended a bit loosely ahead of Neymar's late strike. Lukas Podolski
4.0 Always a willing runner, but like Gomez, struggled to make any impact in attack. Never found himself with a real chance on goal, and offered little in terms of lead-up play. Bastian Schweinsteiger
7.5 Caught upfield once or twice, but controlled the centre of the park throughout the match. Played a quiet role behind Kroos, but gave everything for his team. Scored from the penalty spot, then showed his grit as he wrestled the ball away from Andre Santos to set up Schurrle's goal. Mario Götze Top of the Match
8.5 Man of the match, hands down. The Dortmund man looked a seasoned veteran in the Germany squad and played like a real leader. Scored his first goal for country with a fine finish, and played the ball that led to Kroos' penalty. Immaculate in possession and absolutely everywhere: with Gotze in the line-up, Germany absolutely do not miss Mesut Ozil. Toni Kroos
7.5 Guilty of a pair of terrible giveaways in midfield, and would have received a higher rating if not for those mistakes. Otherwise, the Bayern man was absolutely superb. Came close with a few efforts early, then won a penalty and assisted Gotze's goal with a fine through ball. Thomas Müller
5.5 Struggled for long spells and never looked a threat on goal. Played well in deep areas, but when it came to providing in the attacking third, he came up lacking. Mario Gomez
4.0 Utterly anonymous for long spells and his only touches were outside the penalty area. Posed absolutely no threat on goal, and was substituted at half-time. • Substitutions Miroslav Klose
6.0 A much more effective force than Gomez, the Lazio man found ways to be effective without scoring. He played a clever back-heel ahead of the Kroos penalty, chased down defenders, and fought relentlessly for possession. Cacau N/A Made a brief cameo for the closing seconds. Andre Schürrle
7.0 Not very active on the ball, but clinically efficient. Powered past Dani Alves on one occasion, and later snuck into free space before firing an unstoppable finish into the net. Simon Rolfes
N/A On for Schweinsteiger for the last five minutes. Jerome Boateng
N/A Made a brief cameo for the closing seconds.
