Ownership of the site was passed from the City of Turin to Juventus in July 2003.
Approval was given for the new stadium project in February 2008, and demolition of the old Stadio delle Alpi began seven months later.
In opting to knock down the old ground and build a new, more accessible stadium, Juventus became the first major club to decrease their capacity in building a new venue.
Juve president Andrea Agnelli announced on May 29, 2010 - the 25th anniversary of the Heysel Stadium disaster - that a space within the new club museum will commemorate the 39 victims of the crowd trouble in Brussels.

240 - The maximum number of seconds it will take to evacuate the entire stadium in the event of an emergency.

To give the new Juventus Stadium that Hollywood feeling, there is a 'Walk of Fame' leading to the arena to mark the names of the 50 players from the club's past considered most deserving of the honour.
Each player will get his own star, just as is offered to the stars of stage and screen in California.
Those honoured are:
