City need army talks for release of starlet Manchester City FC news: Manchester City target Nir Biton is attempting to end military service early to seal move.
Manchester City will have to negotiate with the Israeli army in order to land their next transfer target.
Roberto Mancini has been watching midfielder Nir Biton during a week-long trial with the Etihad Stadium outfit, report the Daily Mail.
The 20-year-old has now returned to his current side FC Ashdod, where he is playing while completing military service with the Israeli Defence Forces. Citizens boss Mancini is thought to be keen on adding the 6ft 4in box-to-box player to his depleted midfield, according to agent Dudu Dahan.
Nir is only due to finish his IDF service later this year, but we are ready to begin negotiations about that, he said.
We will speak with the IDF, so that Nir will be able to leave for Manchester in the next two weeks. This is a great opportunity for him.
Biton has been compared with current Citizen Yaya Toure, and apparently held his own against City biggest stars during training.
The Israel international spoke highly of Roberto Mancinis club when interviewed on his return home.
City are a world-class club, and they hosted me perfectly. They made me feel like a part of Manchester City. he said.
From day one, I focused on trying to impress the coaching staff. I was a little excited at the start, but I think it went well overall. It really was an amazing experience.
French sides Marseille and Rennes have also been reported to have an interest in signing Biton but City are thought to be string favourites to land him.
