The top-seeded Zou, who became the first Chinese boxer to win an Olympic gold medal at Beijing 2008, outpointed his opponent in every round en route to the decision, which was booed heavily by the 10,000 spectators at ExCeL. Many, including Pongprayoon himself, felt the Thai boxer had done more to earn the nod, at many points looking like the only competitor wanting to box.
