0DET @ ATL (-8)
DET comes out of bye week still without rookie RB Jones and an unfortunate, but potential, WR Rogers. So, it's going to be running-by-committee between RB Pinner and RB Bryson. This team is going to be good if they can stay away from injury, especially Charles Rogers. Atlanta doesn't surprise me a bit in being on top of the division. They are built around Vick and he's back to lead the offense, that makes the defense have more breathing time, unlike last year. And when they get rookie CB Hall back, the secondary is going to be even more solid. The Falcons D should have no problem containing QB Harrington and potentially offensive rookie of the year WR Roy Williams.
JAX @ SD (3)
Jaguars had an impressive performance against Manning and the gang but couldn't finalize it. Their running game with RB Taylor is worrisome but thinking that they still have a second-year pro RB Toefield and rookie RB Jones is a little relief. Byron Leftwich continues to get better and some analysts say he's even better than Carson QB Palmer. It remains to be seen, though. SD has bounced back nicely from last year's disappointment and QB Brees has been on fire lately. WR Caldwell has much improved and likely to have a strong season. He should take some pressure off Tomlinson's shoulder. But I don't think the secondary would match up well against Jaguars WRing corps. The matchup between LT and the Two Towers is very interesting to see.
ARI @ SF (5) Cardinals seem to have bright future under Denny Green. Don't forget that they're playing without their #1 WR and #1 RB. QB McCown has to limit his mistakes and put the ball more to TE Jones. Their defense will be solidified by getting DT Bryant back from suspension. In the meantime, SF under Erikson looks confused. QB Rattay looks sometimes good but doesn't have anyone to throw to, but TE Johnson, or even doesn't have enough time. WRs have to get open to help him out and the vetaran WR Conway seems to do that more often. Defense will be missing some key players such as DE Carter, LB Smith and CB Rumph. Only star LB Peterson would hardly be able to avoid a tough loss. Either they or MIA should get the first selection overall in the next year's draft. STL @ SEA (-12)
Rams have been inconsistent, especially defense. They simply cannot force turnover like they used to do under def. coord. Lovie Smith, which was their strength. QB Bulger has had a lot of ups and downs, maybe because of the absence of RT Turley. I think the Seahawks defense might see heavy dose of RB Faulk and Jackson. Luckily, Isaac Bruce looks like he's having a very solid year after being overshadowed by Torry Holt. Seattle should get its stud RB back and their OL has been nothing short of impressive, LT Jones and LG Hutchinson, in particular. this makes QB Hassellbeck feel more comfortable. Plus they have 3 great WRs. Although they're not my pick for the NFC but beating the broken-horn Rams is most likely. Too many weapons for the Rams secondary to catch up.
