Here is P'Ning na ka.
@ BIOTOMNEG and @ Teeleck : Sorry na ka I don't have a Thai font on this terminal. Let me respond to you in English and I'll translate it again in Thai tonight (my time).
First of all, big THANKS to both of you for bringing up the good points. I didn't put in too much details just to keep it simple. I think it's beneficial for all viewers if I just drop you more background of me taking this supplement.
Three months ago, I got a prescription from my doctor after receiving the vitamin D test (blood test). The result showed I had a serious vitamin D deficiency ka. The average is 30 -100 but mine was only 18. She wrote me a prescription of 50,000 i.u. of vitamin D-3 once a week for 3 months and 2,000 i.u. daily. Next week I have to run another blood test (reaching 3 months deadline). Whatever the result is, I still need the daily dosage on a regular basis. The test is called "Vitamin D - 25 Hydroxy" in case someone is interested to have one.
After getting the prescription, I was surprised with the gigantic dosage as well. I did some research and found out that up to 70% of people live in the US may be deficient in vitamin D due to lack of sun exposure. As you all know, we mostly live in either the chilly, cloudy, windy, or foggy environment most of the year (at least in my area for sure).
It's very common here for people to take the 50K i.u. (or even more) prescription weekly as I got. The most recent study came out in 2009 that vitamin D is more vital to the human body than we thought. It's no longer just a secondary supplement to Calcium as we always heard of.
Three of my co-workers went ahead for the test right after I told them. The result came out that all of them had somewhat deficiency ranging from 19-30.
For people in Thailand, you might get enough sun exposure already so vitamin D supplement is not that much vital for you. However, if your life style doesn't allow you to be in the sun or you tend to avoid it to achieve the frackle-free skin. You also have a potential to experience the same deficiency we do here.
I'm simply sharing my experience but everyone should do your own homework and gather a sound judgement as well na ka. Again, I'm taking it with doctor's supervision as mentioned in the original post. Sorry for not making it clearer ja.
I'll translate it into Thai version later tonight for you all na ka. Hopefully this at least gives you ladies an idea what we're dealing with when it comes to beauty & health:)
