Dream Boys on September 8th
I was too tired yesterday to make long post. But I really enjoyed the Dream Boys musical. We had very good seats. 5th row balcony dead center. There weren't any problems getting in, again nobody actually checked the name on the ticket. The queues for the goods were short and we had plenty of time to get to our seats. I am really glad that I am not taller though, because the free space for my legs was narrow. I think we were the only foreigners in the audience, at least non-asian looking. The pamphlet is gorgeous and really big. A 3.
It's of course a totally different atmosphere to a concert.
Take everything with a grain of salt because of my lack of Japanese. The story line seems to be more or less the same from the earlier versions. I am comparing it to the 2006 version. The scenery was more or less the same too, but we had some variety type show numbers that involved the white staircase you might have seen in the clips. Kame had the same role, Koki the Role, Subaru played and Yara was the producer (last year Yoko). There were two female leads, and I really didn't get the family connections between them all. One was Kame's mother, but I have really no idea about the other's connection. A.B.C. are playing the roles KAT-TUN played last year and Kis-My-Ft2 have Kanjani8's roles. Kitayama was the one who got stabbed and the Morimoto brothers and Kyomoto are sharing the little brother role. Probably even the Japanese child labor laws forbid such a heavy workload for one 10-12 year old. I have no idea who played the role yesterday. There is no childhood friends scene, but a very cute one between Kame and the little brother on the bench. The circus scene is very short and only involves the Tightrope walking scene. Added is a slapstick military scene with Koki (disguised, as his character is actually dead at that point in the storyline) and the three African-American cast members. It involved shooting at cardboard figures of the rest of the KAT-TUN members. For each of them a characteristic phrase was played, but I only remember Junno's. "Deguchi, Ireguchi, Taguchi desu". *groan*
The bridge scene was between Kame and Yara. Poor Yara didn't even have a boat but had to swim to the bridge. Very funny! During the bridge scene we also got to know who the gray haired man in the front row was. We noticed him before the play because someone actually escorted him and probably his wife to their seats. Kame and Yara greeted him and bowed, because he was the president of Fuji TV.
There was a scene between the two women where money was thrown around, this will become important later. After Kame "died" he meet Koki again supposedly in heaven, as Koki had a lot of female dancers around him, all his wifes.:) Especially when three of them started to fan him, it really looked like his harem. While Kame and Koki were talking, the money suddenly rained down, and Kame actually questioned if this was really heaven since the money rained down from earth. Koki made up an explanation that included something about Brazil. *g*
Like the reports said there was a lot of flying, most of it by Kame and part of it was really near. Balcony seats definitely have advantages though we of course missed all the action "downstairs" when they ran through the aisles. We heard only the screams. :) But we had a very good view of Kame during his stunts and we really could see how he braced himself before the rope one for example. I think he is looking as pretty as seen on TV. :) And he does look healthy and like he had fun. Kawai and Goseki were really near as well during one of the flying parts A.B.C. did. It actually looked like Kawai was staring at us, but I doubt anybody of them could see us because of the spotlights.
The Showtime part included Koki's solo "Make U Wet" including the pink hoodie but he didn't go bare chested like he did in the concert. Kame sang "someday for somebody" but without the shirt changing. All 5 of the main cast (including the two women) sang a really good version of "Seishun Amigo" together. Koki's part was the most surprising for me. I don't know why. Oh, and Koki and Kame are definitely good at fan service. As if anybody could doubt that. *g* We not only got two hugs but also an almost kiss. XD And the fan girls "kyaaed"! Us included.
I very much enjoyed the whole show and I am looking forward to the others I will attend. :)
Of course you couldn't take pictures, but I used my phone to do one before the play started. It's very dark. The others are pictures I bought at an idol store in Harajuku today. And ours was only the 5th performance this year. As I don't have a scanner here, I tried to photograph them as best as I could.
