Many teachers have already taught me (or I have already been taught far too often) that we should generally prefer active voice over passive voice (or that active voice should generally be preferred over passive voice).
However, I still want to be rebelious (or it is still desirable to resort to rebellion) by saying that "It doesn't mean that using passive sentence in writing is a strict taboo". One can perfectly and normally (or It is perfectly normal to) use a 'weather it (like you talk about the weather)' or a 'dummy pronoun' to be impersonal from time to time.
Adhering to any rigid rule can be pretty boring. Besides, I give the above examples (or the above examples are given) only to demonstrate to the OP the difference between the active and passive construction.
From the examples hereinbelow, you can see (or it can be seen) that a lot of people still use passive sentences (or that passive sentences are still used widely) in business writing:
If any of your information has changed or if, after reviewing your file you have corrections, it would be appreciated if you would notify us immediately so we can update your file accordingly. It would also be most helpful if you would ensure your name, address and bag type details are correct.
