Ok,let us talk more about the optical science program from those 4 universities in USA.You should keep in mind about
1.Comprehensive exam those universities have a different structures.For example, you have to complete core classes which is about 10 credits at least for example advanced optics,laser physics, optical sources, EM waves,Math for optics.These classes may be transferable from MS to you PhD program.But some are not.Some you need to take them for comp exam.This will take you at least two semesters or another word one year.Some universities will allow you to take the comp exam only once per year (you have two chances to pass it).Imagine if you get in the program in Spring semester but the comp exam only for August but you are still need to take a class for comp in Fall semester.You will need one and half year to take the comp.Am I right!
2.You got the thai government support. You have about 5 years to complete MS-PhD.You have two years for MS and 3 years for PhD.If you transfer to another university,you may have some problems.
Please try your best to get in the best university first. If you want to go to USA.University of Arizona and University of Rochester should be you first choice,they are best for everything that calls optics.You will have a lot of choices for your research opportunities.But these two are very difficult to get in.There are a lot of former students from MIT Cal Tech, in there! University of Central Florida and University of New Mexico,there are not too difficult as the best two guys.However you still need to spend a lot of energy to get in.
If you don't want to go to these 4 university.
Another way to go is apply to ECE program,it also has the optoelectronics program (almost). I don't know your background.If you are EE student.It is good try EE program.If you are physics student, just go to physics program.
The conclusion is
1.optical science program
2.EE program,do research in optoelectronics
3.Physics program,do research in bio-optics,atomics-optics,quantum optics,UFO.
If you what to go to UK but still want to take course work,try department of physics,University of Manchester.
As I know,now in Thailand there are some former students from university of central florida and University of Arizona.In next few years, there will be some from Universty of New Mexico.
Remember that if you want to attend optics program for your good sake,please first enroll Fall semester.
